The underlying configuration principle including basic products, product properties and property values reduces data maintenance and guarantees effective master data management, even with increasing variant diversity, by bundling thousands of article variants into only a few basic products. Product property-related price matrixes with surcharges and discounts, e.g. for specific colours, materials or forms, allow trading and manufacturing companies to carry out valid calculations and convenient pricing of all product variants. The variant parts lists and work schedules required for production are generated automatically based on version-based storage of modules. Strategic control of the entire variant management ultimately ensures that the variant costs are calculated equitable to the client and that companies may keep track of their complex job and manufacturing systems in their planning, control and monitoring processes.
